Sarel Holtzhausen

Designation: Director

Sarel Holtzhausen has been working in the municipal infrastructure and mainly the water sector since the start of his career in 2003. Initially, Holtzhausen worked as a civil designer on water projects, ranging from water treatment plants; pump stations; and reticulation systems. This was followed by a career as a water planning consultant and process designer for water supply systems and wastewater treatment (WWT) plants. Over the years, he has successfully participated in many infrastructure projects within the following key disciplines:

  • Residential, commercial and industrial developments
  • Grant-funded municipal infrastructure projects
  • Potable water treatment
  • Industrial and domestic WWT and re-use
  • Existing treatment facilities, optimisation and process audits
  • Refurbishment of municipal water and sanitation infrastructure
  • Pipeline and pumped systems
  • Feasibility and funding applications for infrastructure projects
  • Mining infrastructure

Holtzhausen started his career with Africon Engineering International. In 2004, he joined LHL Consulting Engineers, which later became Sizatech Consulting Engineers. In 2008, Holtzhausen became a shareholder and Director of Sizatech Consulting Engineers which, in 2014, merged with Ceenex. Holtzhausen is currently serving as an Executive Director of Ceenex and heads the Business Engineering Unit.

Kgomotso Sekgobela

Designation: Director
Experience: 15 years
Qualifications: Post Graduate Diploma in Development Finance (University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business); Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship (Mancosa); National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Central Johannesburg College); and Global Development Programme (University of Pretoria’s Business School – GIBS) 

Kgomotso Sekgobela has collective experience in entrepreneurship; project and construction management; marketing; and new and existing business development. Sekgobela is also skilled in key project identification, negotiation and execution. This is in addition to determining and formulating relevant policies and providing overall direction for companies and projects. Moreover, he is well versed in developing strategic plans to advance companies’ missions and objectives and promote revenue, profitability and growth. Sekgobela is also an expert in directing companies’ operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.

In 2018, Sekgobela was appointed Executive Director of Ceenex and heads the Business Development Business Unit. 

Imre Viljoen

Designation: Director
Experience: 29 years
Qualifications: B Eng (Industrial) cum laude, University of Pretoria
Professional affiliations: Member of Southern African Institute for Industrial Engineering (MSAIIE).

Imre Viljoen has many years of experience in the Engineering and Information Technology field. Viljoen is an expert in:

  • Business and process simulation, modelling and optimisation
  • Information technology architecture and systems design and support
  • Supply-chain modelling, scheduling and optimisation
  • Using simulation for real-time process control and automation
  • Digital twin deployment
  • Business process design
  • Financial process design and optimisation
  • Financial management and support
  • Management information system design and support
  • Decision support systems development
  • Web-based information systems
  • Transport scheduling systems
  • Customer-relationship management

Viljoen has extensive experience solving complex process and systems problems; undertaking modelling, simulation and system development for the mining, transport, logistics and water sectors; applying theory of constraints in mining; CIO; and implementing enterprise-resource planning and customer care systems in the water sector. This is in addition to strategic and institutional design; water resources systems implementation; information technology systems design; auditing and analysis of business and infrastructure; and business processes and systems design.

He joined Ceenex in December 2000 and, in 2008, was appointed an Executive Director of Ceenex. Viljoen heads the Business Engineering Unit.

Nicolaas Meyer

Designation: Director

Qualifications: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
BEng Hons (Civil) (Water Resources Engineering) B.Eng (Civil)

Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Member of SAICE

Meyer has participated in the design and implementation of several large infrastructure projects. This includes water and wastewater treatment plants; pump stations with rising mains; and large-bore bulk water systems, in addition to private developments; telecommunications infrastructure; and bulk infrastructure.

One of his many career highlights was serving as Lead Designer of a multi-disciplinary team involved in, among other projects, raising the capacity of Mmamashia Water Treatment Works in Gaborone, Botswana, to 110 Ml/d – a R1,9-billion project.

Meyer also served as Lead Designer for the 7,5 Ml/d Kwaggafontein booster pump station and 10 Ml/d Bundu water-treatment and abstraction works in Mpumalanga.

Moreover, he has fulfilled the role as Project Engineer for the design of several private development projects in Midrand, Alberton and Johannesburg.

Notably, Meyer also successfully supervised the construction of overhead fibre long routes; fibre-to-the-home; and fibre-to-the-business routes in all nine provinces. This culminated in his participation in the construction of the national long route or NLD.
